Hydrobromotitanic Acid, H₂TiBr₆

The solution of titanium tetrabromide in water, alcohol, or ether is bright yellow, but in hydrobromic acid it is blood-red. The latter solution, therefore, contains a complex anion which is probably (TiBr₆)'', to which there correspond the ammonium salt (NH₄)₂TiBr₆.2H₂O and the pyridine salt (C₅H₅N)₂.H₂TiBr₆, both of which consist of dark red crystals.
